Google Business Profile setup and optimisation

A one-off job to get your listing accurate and complete

Whether you have no profile yet, a half-finished one, or one that has not been touched in years, we set it up properly so customers see the right information. Then it is yours to run, or we can look after it for you.

  • Creating a new profile or claiming an existing one
  • Help and guidance through verification
  • Every relevant section completed accurately

Is this where you are?

Setup and optimisation suits businesses in any of these situations.

  • No profile at allCustomers searching for your business name find nothing, or only a directory listing.
  • Started but never finishedA profile exists but verification was never completed, or half the sections are empty.
  • Out of dateThe profile shows old hours, an old phone number, an old address or photos from years ago.
  • Someone else set it upA previous employee, agency or supplier created it and you are not sure who controls it now.
  • Wrong categoriesThe profile describes your business in a way that does not match the work you actually want.
  • Duplicate listingsMore than one profile exists for the same business, which confuses customers and splits reviews.

What setup and optimisation includes

Exactly what is needed depends on where your profile starts. We agree the work with you first.

Create or claim the profile

Set up a new profile, or help you request access to an existing one so the business controls its own listing.

Verification support

Explain the verification method Google offers you and help you complete it. Google decides whether a profile is verified, so we cannot guarantee it.

Categories and services

Choose the categories that genuinely describe your business and list the services you offer, in plain words customers use.

Address or service area

Set out where you are based or the areas you travel to, following Google’s rules for businesses that visit customers.

Hours and contact details

Accurate opening hours, including special hours for holidays if you want them, plus your phone number and website link.

Photos and description

Help choosing genuine photos of your work, premises or team, and a clear, honest description of what you do.

Consistent business details

Make sure your business name, address and phone number match your website and other listings, so nothing contradicts.

Linked to your website

Point the profile to the right page of your website, and check your website shows the same details.

A summary for you

A plain English note of what was set up and changed, and how to keep it current yourself.

What we will need from you

You do not need all of this to get started. Send what you have.

  • Your business name exactly as customers know it, and your phone number
  • Your address, or the towns and areas you travel to if you visit customers
  • The services you offer, and which ones you want more of
  • Your opening hours
  • A few genuine photos of your work, premises or team
  • If a profile already exists, a link to it or a screenshot

Please never send passwords or login details through our forms or by email. If we need access to anything, we will agree a safe way to arrange it with you.

How assessment and quoting work

You always know what we plan to do, and what it will cost, before any work starts.

  1. Tell us where you are starting from

New profile, existing profile, duplicates or a problem. A link or a screenshot helps.

  2. We check and advise

We look at your current listing and what needs doing, and tell you what we recommend and what it will cost.

  3. You agree the work

Nothing starts until you are happy with the plan and the price.

  4. We set it up with you

We complete the profile and guide you through any steps only the owner can do, such as verification.

Common questions

How long does verification take?

It varies, and Google sets the method and the timing. Some businesses verify quickly, others are asked for more evidence. We help you follow the steps correctly, but we cannot control or guarantee Google’s decision.

I work from home. Do I have to show my address?

Not usually. If you travel to your customers, Google lets you hide your address and show the areas you serve instead. We will set it up the right way for how you work.

Do I need a website to have a profile?

No, but a website helps. It gives customers more detail and confirms the information on your profile. If you need one, see our pay-monthly websites.

Will you add keywords to my business name?

No. Adding extra words to your business name goes against Google’s guidelines and can lead to suspension. Your profile will use your real business name.

What happens after setup?

The profile is yours and you can look after it yourself. We give you a short summary of what was done. If you would rather we kept it up to date, see profile management.

Do you need my Google login?

No. Please never send passwords. Google lets you invite someone as a manager of your profile, and you can remove them whenever you like.

Ask About Profile Setup
