Website support and repairs

When your website breaks, you need someone to find out why

An error message, a page that has lost its layout, or a contact form that quietly stopped sending enquiries. We investigate what has gone wrong, explain it in plain English, and agree the fix and the cost with you before we start.

  • No website subscription needed for a repair
  • Clear explanation of the cause
  • Fix and cost agreed before any work starts

What is happening?

These are the problems we are most often asked about. If yours is not listed, tell us anyway.

  • The website shows an errorA blank white page, a "500" or "503" error, a database connection message, or a warning that the site is not secure.
  • Pages look brokenText overlapping, menus not working, images missing, or the layout falling apart on phones.
  • The contact form has stopped workingThe form looks fine but enquiries never arrive, or visitors see an error when they press send.
  • The website has disappearedNothing loads at all. Often a domain, DNS or hosting account problem rather than the website itself.
  • Something changed after an updateThe site behaved until a plugin, theme or software update, and now part of it does not.
  • Browser security warningsVisitors are told the connection is not private, usually because an SSL certificate has expired or is not set up properly.

Is it affecting your business right now? Choose “Urgent” on the form below and describe the effect, for example “no enquiries since Monday” or “customers see a security warning”. It helps us understand what matters most.

What we can investigate or fix

We start by finding the cause. Once we know what it is, we explain your options.

Find the cause

We look at what the website, hosting and domain are doing, so the fix deals with the actual problem rather than just the symptom.

Repair broken pages and layouts

Put right pages that display incorrectly or fail to load, including problems that only show on phones.

Get forms delivering again

Check where form messages are meant to go and why they are not arriving. Often this is email settings rather than the form itself.

Fix SSL and security warnings

Set up or renew the certificate so visitors see the padlock rather than a warning.

Domain and DNS problems

Sort out records pointing to the wrong place after a move, a renewal or a change of provider.

Restore from a backup

Where a working backup exists, restoring it can be the quickest route back. We will tell you what that would mean for recent changes.

What information we need

The more of this you can tell us, the quicker we can see what is going on. It is fine if you do not know some of it.

  • Your website address
  • What you see, and a screenshot of any error message
  • When it started, and anything that changed around then, such as an update, a new plugin or a hosting change
  • Who hosts the website and who manages the domain name, if you know
  • What the website is built with, such as WordPress, Wix or something custom, if you know

Please never send passwords or login details through our forms or by email. If we need access to anything, we will agree a safe way to arrange it with you.

How assessment and quoting work

You always know what we plan to do, and what it will cost, before any work starts.

  1. Tell us what is happening

Describe what you see and when it started. Screenshots of error messages help. Please never send passwords by form or email.

  2. We assess it

We look at the problem and work out the likely cause. If we need access to anything, we agree a safe way to arrange it with you.

  3. You approve the fix

We explain what we found, what we recommend and what it will cost. Nothing is done until you agree.

  4. We fix and check

We carry out the agreed work, test it, and tell you what was done and anything to watch for.

Common questions

Do I need to sign up to a monthly plan to get my website fixed?

No. Repairs are handled on their own. The pay-monthly packages are for new websites, and a repair does not commit you to anything else.

How much does a repair cost?

It depends on what is wrong, so we look at the problem first. We then tell you what we found and what the fix will cost, and we only go ahead once you have agreed.

Can you fix any website?

Not every platform, and we will be honest about that. Tell us what your website is built with and where it is hosted. We will confirm whether we can help before anything else happens.

Do you need my passwords?

Never send passwords through a form or by email. If we need access to your website or hosting to carry out agreed work, we will talk you through a safe way to arrange it, such as creating a separate account for us that you can remove afterwards.

My developer has disappeared. Can you help?

Often, yes. It helps if you can find out who hosts the website and who controls the domain name. If you do not know, tell us what you do have, such as old invoices or emails, and we can help you work it out.

Can you stop it happening again?

Once we know the cause, we will tell you what would reduce the risk, whether that is regular updates, backups or better hosting. Website maintenance is there if you would like someone to keep an eye on it.
