What was involved

  • Website redesign from a blank page
  • Navy blue and orange brand colour scheme
  • Page-by-page content and structure
  • Separate pages for each repair service
  • Local area pages across Manchester
  • Form and device testing
  • Ongoing content improvements

The starting point

When the project began, the Manchester PC website had only a few pages, and most enquiries came through paid Google adverts. When Google stopped accepting adverts for third-party tech support in 2019, that source of enquiries went, and the business needed its own website to do far more of the work.

What we did

  • A clearer identity. The previous branding did not stand out, so a navy blue and orange colour scheme was chosen to make Manchester PC easier to recognise.
  • A rebuilt website, from a blank page. The old site had little content or structure, so the new one was planned from scratch, with the Manchester PC team closely involved in what every page needed to say.
  • Pages planned around enquiries. Every page leads with two clear actions, describe your problem or call, and the position and behaviour of those buttons were considered page by page.
  • Service and area pages. Separate pages for each main repair service and for the areas of Manchester the business covers, so customers land on a page about exactly what they need.
  • Testing. Forms were tested repeatedly, and pages were checked on phones, tablets and desktops at different screen sizes.
  • Ongoing improvement. Content has continued to be added and improved since launch.

What it shows

Good results on a small business website depend on the business owner and the web team working together. The people who talk to customers every day know what those customers ask, and that knowledge belongs on the website.
